PPL CHEQUE PAYMENTS TO BE PHASED OUT IN JANUARY 2009

NOTICE TO RECORD COMPANY & PERFORMER MEMBERS

Please note that from January 2009 PPL will no longer make cheque payments. If you do not supply us with your BACS details (or SWIFT/IBAN details for non-UK members) any due payments will be held until we receive notification of your nominated account. Once new details have been received, payment will be made electronically in the next available monthly payment run.

WHY CHANGE TO BACS?

It is a quick, simple and more secure way for PPL to make payments directly into a nominated bank account of your choice. It is more convenient to you and helps to minimize our costs, increasing your PPL income.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?

Please open and print the change of details form. Then complete the electronic payment details section, sign and return it to us by post to: Performer Services, PPL, 1 Upper James Street, London W1F 9DE.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

WHAT IS THE ANNUAL PAYMENT SCHEDULE?

As part of PPL’s ongoing systems development work we are implementing a new system for calculating and making payments to our members. These changes will ultimately enable PPL to manage your rights more effectively and provide you with a higher quality service.

To allow the transition from old to new systems, we need to make some changes to our payments schedule.

The June 2010 distribution payment and September 2010 adjustments to previous payments will continue as normal.  Monthly international and previously held performer and record company monies will also continue.

After the September 2010 adjustment, PPL’s next payment will be in summer 2011.

ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION

Each June the revenue that was collected in the previous licensing year (January to December) is distributed to members.

ADJUSTMENTS

Where track line-ups have been updated (as a result of performer claims or data cleaning exercises undertaken by PPL) previous allocations are re-calculated to allow for payment to additional performers. This can lead to a negative financial adjustment for the performers originally linked to an adjusted recording.

OVERSEAS REVENUE

Any revenue we collect from overseas societies on behalf of our internationally mandated performers will be paid in the next available payment run.

HELD PAYMENTS

If a performer moves or changes bank account and fails to keep PPL informed, their account will be held until updated details have been supplied. PPL will proactively attempt to contact performers whose accounts are held to obtain new details.  Once new details have been supplied the performer will be paid in the next available payment run.
