Many broadcasters in the UK have blanket licences from PPL and VPL. This means that it is not normally necessary for production companies who are making television programmes for UK broadcast, which include sound recordings and/or music videos, to obtain their own licences. Production companies should check that the broadcaster commissioning programmes has a PPL and/or VPL licence.
